To Kill a Mockingbird

The Department of Theatre Arts at Saddleback College is pleased to present To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, and directed by Maria Mayenzet. Lawyer Atticus Finch defends the real mockingbird --a black man charged with the rape of a white woman. Through the eyes of Atticus's children, Scout and Jem Finch, the story explores, with rich humor and unanswered honesty, the irrationality of adult attitudes toward race and class in the Deep South of the 1930's.  Harper Lee describes the play as “a love story, pure and simple:  love for the South, a father’s love for his children and their love for him.”
